ORAL SURGERY &  WISDOM TEETH EXTRACTION

Wisdom Teeth

What Are Wisdom Teeth?
Wisdom teeth are the third molars, located at the back of the mouth. Most people develop four wisdom teeth - two on the upper jaw and two on the lower - typically emerging between the ages of 16 and 23. However, not everyone has wisdom teeth; some individuals are born without them or may have fewer than four.
For many, wisdom teeth grow in normally, aligning with the rest of their teeth and functioning like any other molars. In such cases, they don’t require removal and can remain a healthy part of the mouth.

Do Wisdom Teeth Need to be Removed?

Wisdom teeth can become impacted when there isn’t enough space in the jaw for them to erupt properly. An impacted wisdom tooth may:
  • Grow at an angle instead of straight up
  • Only partially emerge, leaving a flap of gum that can trap bacteria
  • Stay stuck beneath the gum, leading to pain or infection
Signs Your Wisdom Teeth May Need Removal
  • Swollen or bleeding gums
  • Pain and swelling around the jaw
  • Persistent bad breath
  • Headache or jaw discomfort
  • Unpleasant taste when eating

Following the removal of your teeth, the gums will be sutured, and gauze will be placed in your mouth to help control bleeding. You will rest comfortably in the chair while continuing to bite down on the gauze. Once you feel ready, you will be discharged and taken home.
You will receive a post-operation kit with detailed instructions on eating, drinking, and caring for your mouth to promote a smooth recovery. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 096306382. Our team will be happy to assist you.
